We Indians...

Many of the people i have met in my life until now, are not very proud about the fact that they are Indians. I am a very proud Indian, and this feeling had increased a lot more than it used to be ,in recent years. I have come to a conclusion about we Indians not being proud about India.

Generally there are two camps, one that believes that there is no chance for this Nation to progress with the amount of corruption, poverty, population ,lack of good leaders, caste ism and blah blah... this list could go on for ever. And for obvious reasons they have given up hope.So the people belonging to this camp are just not bothered about anything until something happens that affects them.

Next comes the people belonging to a camp where they blindly support India(not India actually , but a cause that is aimed to achieve unity) whatever, however and wherever. They forget to logically analyse the facts before blindly supporting a cause.

For instance, in Tamil Nadu there are a few political leaders who want to add the tamil language in all spheres of life for the people in the state. They are so obsessed about it. With all due respect to the Tamil Language, for it is one of the oldest and literature-wise very rich language, i would like these over-obsessed people to think that people in Tamilnadu also need to know other languages for their survival in the world outside TamilNadu. The north Indians when come to the south(leave the metros out) for whatsoever purpose may it be education, work, etc etc.. face a serious problem.

First of all, they come from a completely different culture. Many of us sometimes fail to understand the diversity of our nation. The most common example, can be seen in restaurants and public buses. In TamilNadu bus conductors behave almost like the bus owners, and for the natives its not a new thing as they have accepted this fact. The Conductor gets his share of respect from the public. Now ,for people who are new to this system(northies of course:) get into serious quarrels with the bus-conductors.

And the Bus-Conductor gets an very wrong impression about the northies after one such incident, so he continues to be hostile to the rest of them. So my northie friends, next time u have a unpleasant bus journey, you know whom to blame:). The same applies to the waiters in restaurants also. I have personally seen the waiters purposely delaying the order because the northies sometimes are not as nice as the natives are with their body language and lingo's to the waiters.

The term "Madrasi", now which is being also used as "chennai-wala" is very popular and common among the north-indians. As the newtons third law says "every action has a equvalent and an opposite reaction" ,the south-indians also have their terrible stories and feelings about the northern part of the country. I have a few personal experiences, when I was in 6Th standard, we had gone to Delhi for a National Sports Meet, Unfortunately for us ,our "ESCORT" knew only tamil, and broken English of course. Now i just look back and laugh at the hard time they had given our team "MADRAS REGION" during the distribution of bedding(it was winter and we were the last team to receive the beds ,pillows and blankets which were by the way worn out and fell short in number, while the other teams got the better ones),food (it used to be a buffet queue system where only "MADRAS REGION" had to report with their "ESCORT" & "COACH" else would not be served).. i can list a lot of other things.. but one thing ,which was surprising was the unity the northern states acquire when they want to ridicule their southern brothers and sisters. Not to mention "ShivSena","RamSena" and all such senas.. who are able to generate unity only among a particular cast or state, but fail to create national unity.

I feel all their efforts are going in Vain because, they are just brainwashing indians to hate other indians. I Remember Russle Peters saying this "Indians are not Terrorists.. We don't even hate the same people.. Terrorists hate USA.. Indians ..hate Each other:) ".

First of all we must understand that 70% Indian population is young, and maximum of this youth are not proud of India. To be proud of our country one must really understand the story behind our INDEPENDENCE. What the people who fought for our Independence had in mind, when they wanted "SWARAJ". Movies like "Gandhi" and "Sardar Patel" is a must watch for every youth, so they can atleast have a basic understanding of the issues these leaders faced during the independence and partition. But what are we doing??? sitting back , relaxing.. blaming others for all the wrong things... tring to take credit for things which we don't deserve. It is sad that except for the natives ,we have to have a special goverment permit to enter nagaland. People there say this when thay have a visitor "he has come from india"!", this shows how unified we are.

Even after knowing that mumbai is housing twice the population capacity it should, people here complain about traffic, overcrowded trains, dirty beaches and what not.
The youth today, has learned to complain a lot. Its experiencing a comfortable life (compared to the youth in Afghanistan and Iraq).. but still does not do anything to change our country for the good.

This is because we do not have faith in our culture, we just follow the west. We have forgotten that out culture is over 10000 years old, if you dont believe it, GOOGLE it.. you will be surprised by the fact that India was contributing 38% of world GDP untill 200 years ago. India was the richest country on Earth until the time of the British in the early 17th Century. Robert Clive’s personal wealth amassed from the blunder of Bengal during 1750’s was estimated at around £401,102 .It has been estimated that the total amount of treasure that the British looted from India had already reached £1,000,000,000 (£1Billion) by 1901. Taking into consideration interest rates and inflation this would be worth close to $1,000,000,000,000 ($1Trillion) in real-terms today.

"In India I found a race of mortals
living upon the Earth. But not adhering to it.
Inhabiting cities, but not being fixed to them,
possessing everything but possessed by nothing".

- Apollonius Tyanaeus
( Greek Thinker and Traveller 1st Century AD )

India invented the Number System.Ayurveda is the earliest school of medicine known to humans.Cristopher Columbus was attracted by the greatness of India. The World's first university was born at river Sindh 6000 years ago. The art of Navigation was born in India. ‘Navigation’ is derived from the Sanskrit word "NAVGATIH".

Madhavacharya discovered Taylor series of Sine and Cosine function long ago Taylor was born .Theory of Continued Fraction was discovered by Bhaskaracharya II. Indians discovered Arithmetic and Geometric progression. Arithmetic progression is explained in Yajurveda. Madhavacharya discovered Newton Power series. Govindaswamin discovered Newton Gauss Interpolation formula about 1800 years ago.Backward Interpolation formula was known about 1000 years before Newton claimed to have found it. Madhavacharya discovered Leibnitz power series for pi. Parameswaracharya discovered Lhuiler’s formula about 400 years before Lhuiler. Bhaskaracharya calculated the time taken by the earth to orbit the sun .Time taken by earth to orbit the sun was estimatied by Brahmagupta in his book "Brahmasputa" in the 5th century was 365.258756484 days.Bhaskaracharya II has predated Copernicus by giving an explanaiton of infinity with clear examples.

The Surya Siddhanta, A textbook on astronomy of ancient India, last compiled in 1000 BC, believed to be handed down from 3000 BC by aid of complex mnemonic recital methods still known today. Showed the Earth's diameter to be 7,840 miles, compared to modern measurements of 7,926.7 miles. Showed the distance between the Earth and the Moon as 253,000 miles, Compared to modern measurements of 252,710 miles

There is an old Sanskrit Sloka (couplet) which is as follows:

"Sarva Dishanaam, Suryaha, Suryaha, Suryaha."

This means that there are suns in all directions. This couplet which describes the night sky as full of suns, indicates that in ancient times Indian astronomers had arrived at the important discovery that the stars visible at night are similar to the Sun visible during day time. In other words, it was recognised that the sun is also a star, though the nearest one. This is jus the tip of ice berg of what the indians have accomplished centuries ago, there is much much more which we are not aware.

The major break through for the europens through which they entered india was the that they successfully managed to defame our 10000 year old culture. No wonder Sanskrit was removed from our education system. Degrees in indian universities were given in sanskrit earlier ,until the British times. So the people slowly lost faith in our culture, hence todays youth too is just showing its ignorance to our culture.

It is high time we put aside our silly issues, realize what we are, who we were and where we have to be!. Unite for the cause of National Development.People say India has to become a superpower, but it actually has to get back to the superpower status.

"DONT CRIB, DO SOMETING ABOUT THE CRIB!"

anger.. a heroic villain

Anger , why is it that this human quality is always seen as a negative?

first of all, before trying to control anger one must understand the true cause behind it. Anger can be defined as an emotional outburst whenever our "desires" are not being met or fulfilled. For example, one fine morning you are not able to find your car keys, and u have a really important meeting to attend, here your "desire" of "getting to your workplace in time" is being crushed. So , anger creeps in, spoiling not only your mood but others moods too.

Speaking about desires, our desires vary from time to time, some are very self-centric and some are the desires for a higher cause. This is where, we can understand that anger can have both good and bad sides. If a desire that is fully self-centered , fuels your anger, that can be considered as negative.

Say for example, lets consider a recent case in mumbai where police nabbed a television actress after she beat and inflicted burns to her 10-year-old maid because the child had been "caught eating shreekhand" , here the cause of anger for the actress was so stupid. The desire which was not being fulfilled for the actress was totally self-centered, and hence her anger is negative.

Whenever we get angry, its always good to take a few seconds break and analyze about the desire that is fueling the anger. If the desire seems silly , its better to maintain a cool head. But if your intellect tells you that the desire is correct and critical ,then the anger turns into a positive energy. The most common example is parents getting mad at their children for not studying:).By trying to analyzing our desires, i feel most of the time we will feel getting angry is not of any use. And by taking this break of few seconds to think and analyze ,we might escape uttering harsh words or doing hurting things at the spur of the moment ,which might inflict permanent damage in relationships.

One thing, which many of us fail to understand is that, there are a few things that are above our control and there is no point in getting angry or showing irritation about them. For example, climate.. people know they cant do anything about the weather but still continue to crib about it. They want the summer to be cold and the winter to be warm & curse the rain in the "rainy" season. Next, is the Traffic and crowd..people know that India is a populous country and there are about 4.5 lakh cars running in Chennai alone...but expect the roads to be traffic-free during peak hours and express their irritation about the crowd everywhere. They loose their cool for no reason!.Getting angry too much is bad for our body... a person who gets angry very often will look 60 when he is 40.Might seem silly... but its a fact!

One last thing about anger is that, the reason a person gets angry is to prove a point or draw attention for the same. Being short tempered is like a fashion in today's world, i know a lot of people who feel proud to have a short temper. People fail to realize that being short tempered only leads to the individual being "taken for granted", or people might say.."ya,'mr.x'?? don worry .he always loses his cool, he'll be normal in some time ..just leave him alone for now". Allowing people to develop such an image about oneself can be fatal in both professional and personal life. So we have to understand and use this emotion tactically. And when a patient guy loses his temper people around him know that something is terribly wrong, and will not end up saying "chill....he's always like this" and will pay attention to your point and take you seriously.
